Local Partners
We are pleased to work alongside the following local partners as we seek for God's kingdom to come in Sparkbrook and His will be done through Christ Church.
Azadi Trust is a local Christian Charity with a vision for community outreach and service, aiming to bring peace, freedom, and the life of Jesus to those of all faiths and none, particularly to those marginalised by age, ethnicity, disability, or destitution.
Birmingham City Mission has been a helpful partner by providing ideas, training, and resources for much of our children's ministry work. Our Children's Holiday Club is modeled on BCM's Solid Rock Holiday Club which has run successfully for over 20 years in Small Heath. They do much more than children's ministry. Check out their website to learn more.
A very important partnership exists with Christ Church CE Primary School. We work together and support one another in many different ways such as governing body, Collective Worship, use of buildings, and pastoral care. Christ Church School is an Outstanding school (Ofsted, November 2017) and consistently achieves some of the highest KS2 SATS results in the country. We are proud of the staff and children and are glad that they are part of the Christ Church family.
Christ Church is part of the Church of England. We serve and minister in Sparkbrook with the support of and accountability to the Church of England - Birmingham Diocese.
Emmanuel Group
Christ Church is also part of a local group of Church of England Churches called the Emmanuel Group. We aim to regularly pray together, support and encourage each other and share resources as we unite in our witness to Jesus as Christians in this area. The Emmanuel Group consists of:
-
Christ Church - Sparkbrook
-
St Christopher's Church - Springfield
-
St Edmund's Church - Tyseley
-
St John's Church - Sparkhill
We also work alongside other churches of different denominations in Sparkbrook and Sparkhill to mutually encourage one another and serve our community together. You may see this in public at Christmas and on Good Friday when we gather for our Walk of Witness event.
The Feast is a charity that brings together young people ages 11-18 of any faith and none to build friendships, explore faith and change lives. The Feast run events where young people have a lot of fun, get to know one another, and talk about what they believe. Their Birmingham office is located on the 1st floor of Christ Church Sparkbrook.
Open the Book is a project which offers primary school children the opportunity to hear key Bible stories from a team of volunteers from local churches, who present the stories during school assemblies and Collective Worship. Our team is active in local schools in the area.
Sawiyan is a charity that provides our Creative English classes. Sawiyan has helped us reach out and build friendship with our neighbours, many who are from cultures different from our own.
The Sparkhill Foodbank works using a voucher referral system. In order to get help, you will need a voucher. See their website to learn how to obtain a voucher, for opening times and a location near you. Sparkhill Food Bank is a project of Narthex in Sparkhill.
We're grateful for the many ways that the people of Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church have partnered with us to bring Good News to Sparkbrook.
